TRIPS
The Trip Schedule for Season 2024-25 is coming into shape. The early part of the season is now set. Come to the Social to see the draft list for the rest of the season!
The opening trip will be the 13-15th September - the ALPINE HIKE. You can already sign up for this trip. See details below.
This will be followed by a one-day AVALANCHE COURSE in Frankfurt on 6th October.
This involves avalanche awareness theory and practice with avalanche safety equipment – essential for everybody who enjoys freeriding or wants to learn. Bring your own equipment or use the equipment provided. FSC recommends only going off-piste fully equipped with a qualified guide.
Trip 3 HINTERTUX 8-11 Nov. A U-Drive/ U-train to one of Austria’s finest glaciers – a perennial FSC favorite. 3 days skiing.
Trip 4 SÖLDEN 28 Nov – 1st Dec. Our first BUS TRIP of the season. This excellent Austrian area includes two glaciers. The 3-day ski pass will also include the nearby Hochgurgl Obergurgl areas. NOT TO BE MISSED. THIS TRIP NEEDS EARLY COMMITMENT!

Trip 6. DAVOS 13 Dec. We are in Switzerland for this classic 2-day U-train/U-drive, including ski pass. Very accessible by train. Can be linked to St. Moritz #2.
Trip 8. SALZBURGER LAND #1 29 Dec. 6 days. Back to Austria to visit our friends SIEGI TOURS in St. Veit for NEW YEAR. This trip offers lessons to hone your skills – also perfect for beginners. A great chance to explore this extensive area.More details coming out soon for all of these trips and more.

TRIP 1 | ALPINE HIKE | 13-15 SEPTEMBER.
Rofan-Achensee, Austria.

Berggasthof Rohan

This is a 3-day tour of the Rofan-Achensee area, staying in the Berg Gasthof Rohan Mountain hut overlooking the Achensee. We can explore the plateau with a short-day hike, taking well deserved rest and picnic surrounded by the Tyrolean alps.
A number of options exist for the more or less adventurous. Hikers must be sure-footed and familiar of the inherent risks of an alpine environment. This trip requires a good level of fitness. Participants must be equipped for variable weather conditions and wear suitable hiking boots. Bring sleeping bag liners and water bottles.
Accommodation will be in a shared mixed-gender dormitory room for 10-12 people. The hut will serve dinner Friday and Saturday evening (included in the price) and it will be possible to buy provisions for lunch on Saturday and Sunday.
Start: Friday morning. Return: Sunday afternoon
It is possible to walk to/from the mountain hut or reach it by cable car (Rofan Seilbahn 8:30-17:00). There will be a group walk to reach the hut leaving 14:30 (tbc) Friday afternoon.
This trip does not include qualified guides. One or more hiking groups will be formed informally. Individual trippers should be prepared to hike alone if there is no suitable group.
This is a U-train/ U-drive trip. The TCs will help arrange carpooling.

Some FSCers take their winter sports more seriously than others do. Such dedicated people are know around Frankfurt (and other regions of the world) as "SKIBUMS".
You too can become a SKIBUM. It’s quite simple, albeit a tad pricey. Anyone who participates in FSC trips totalling a given number of days or more during the current season becomes a SKIBUM, receiving a specially designed t-shirt of recognition (arguably the most expensive ‘freebie’ in the world). It’s our little way of thanking dedicated FSC members for the time (and money) they invested in their favourite pastime.
