The Resort

Ischgl does not do quiet endings. The Silvretta Arena links Austria and Switzerland across 239 km of pistes and 45 lifts, and by April the sun sits high enough to chase the snow all day: Swiss side in the morning, Austrian side in the afternoon, back down to the village when the lifts stop. The long runs are what people come for. The descent from the Greitspitze alone goes on for eleven kilometres. Ischgl sits high, holds its snow late, and skis properly right through to the end of the season.

Lodging & Après-Ski

You ski off the piste straight into the hotel's own ski cellar. We stay at the Persura, a quiet without being out of the way hotel: two to three minutes on foot to the village centre and to the main cable car, with the bars and cafés clustered around them. The included breakfast is a full buffet that will reward everybody who gets up early, and the wellness area spoils you with a sauna, steam bath, whirlpool, infrared cabin and an ice fountain for anyone feeling brave.

Good to Know

Ischgl already knows who is headlining the stage at 2,300 m in April, but they are not telling! Place your bets early and enjoy being spectacularly right or wrong.
