Just ashort ride from Frankfurt, this Austrian valley opens up a surprisingly large playground: the Silvretta Montafon ski area with over 140 km of pistes.Beginners can practice on wide, gentle slopes, intermediates will love the long reds, and experts can tackle steep runs and freeride zones – epic fun when explored with a guide, because maps don’t tell you where the cliffs are. The area is known for its laid-back charm and plenty of sunshine, making it idea lfor a relaxed winter weekend. We stay at the Alpstadt Lifestyle Hotel in Bludenz, a stylish and modern hotel opened in 2021, with half-board included. Getting to the slopes is easy – the train ride is covered in your skipass, making the journey part of the experience. Even better: you can store your skis and boots right at the mountain, so the trip back to the hotel is light and carefree. After dinner, the fun doesn’t stop – you can head to the adjacent Fohren Center for bowling or lasertag, enjoy a selection of freshly brewed beers from the brewery across the street, or simply take a stroll with your fellow trippers to the Bludenz village.
